A 69-year-old man was found dead inside the bathroom of his residence at Barangay Minoyan in Negros Occidental’s Murcia town on Friday night, June 20.

The victim, identified only by the alias “Bertel,” was discovered lifeless at around 10:30 p.m. inside his home in Purok Varela after concerned friends and neighbors checked on his condition.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim’s friend, identified by the alias “Jinnefer,” had contacted a neighbor, alias “Hazel,” after being unable to reach him and learning that he was feeling unwell.

“Hazel,” accompanied by her brother, alias “Ritcher,” went to the victim’s house to check on him.

Finding the residence locked and receiving no response from inside, “Ritcher” entered through the ceiling and later opened the door.

Upon entering the house, the siblings found the victim naked and unresponsive inside the comfort room.

Police conducted an initial examination of the body and reported finding no visible external injuries.

The victim was subsequently brought to the Murcia Health Unit, where the attending physician declared him dead.

Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of death and are awaiting further medical assessment as part of the ongoing investigation./CCJ, WDJ
