Two motorcycle riders were killed in separate road accidents in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental’s Bago City.

In Bacolod, a 19-year-old rider died after his motorcycle slammed into a parked 10-wheeler truck along Circumferential Road in Barangay Alijis at 4:30 a.m. yesterday.

The victim was traveling southbound from the northern portion of Circumferential Road when he collided with the rear portion of the truck, which had been parked along the roadside.

The rider sustained severe injuries, particularly to the head, and was later declared dead.

The truck owner said the vehicle had been disabled for about a week due to a damaged radiator.

Meanwhile, in Bago, a 35-year-old security guard was killed after three motorcycles figured in a collision along the National Highway in Barangay Abuanan’s Purok Margarita shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19.

Two other riders sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Police Master Sergeant Jeffrey Montinola, Bago police traffic investigator, said the three riders were traveling together from Barangay Abuanan toward Barangay Dulao when the crash occurred.

Witnesses claimed the motorcycles were being driven at high speed and that the riders were allegedly not wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

Investigators are also looking into reports that the riders had come from a drinking establishment before the incident.

Authorities continue to investigate both accidents as part of efforts to determine the circumstances that led to the fatalities./CCJ, WDJ
