Transport co-op earlier said operations would begin last month

The Iloilo City Alliance of Operators and Drivers Transport Cooperative (ICAODTC) recently revealed they are still without a franchise from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) after agency inspectors found the garage housing the “modern jeepneys” lacked a rooftop.
“We are trying to finish everything,” insisted ICAODTC Board Secretary Rizal Alido. “We are fast-tracking the construction of our garage roof so that we can have our modernized jeepneys start plying the streets.”
The co-op earlier announced operations were supposed to begin on May 8.
Meanwhile, LTFRB-Region VI Director Richard Osmeña earlier announced the United Negros Transport Cooperative (UNETCO) and their partner, Yellowdot Transport Inc., who recently unveiled their new Euro 4-compliant public utility vehicles (PUVs), were not yet permitted to operate in Bacolod City.
The LTFRB-6 official said his office has yet to receive applications from UNETCO or Yellowdot that would allow them to begin operating in the city, pointing out, he only learned about their plans after they posted pictures and route proposals on social media.
The city currently has 25 PUVs but, UNETCO chair Marcelo Ochia affirmed, “About a thousand more units are coming.”
With the anticipated influx of so many PUVs, various city government officials have previously blamed traffic congestion on the number of vehicles currently operating on city roads./WDJ
