After Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. signed a memorandum of agreement with Dualtech Training Center Foundation Inc. to provide scholarships for 20 Negros Occidental students enrolled in vocational-technical courses last April, the 20 scholars left for the Dualtech Training Center technical school in Calamba, Laguna last Saturday.
A fellowship and farewell lunch was held for the scholarship recipients at the Buklod Study Center with Marañon; Buglas Foundation Inc. President Raffy Gonzales, Treasurer Felipe Espinosa, and Board of Trustee Joaquin Heras; Buklod Study Center Director Philip Carpina; among others present for the send off.
“Never forget to pray and ask God for guidance and strength,” the outgoing governor said.
The program seeks to produce high quality electromechanic technicians in response to a growing demand both domestically and abroad. Students will be taught basic skills, industrial skills, personal development, along with lessons on digital electronics and basic automation.
According to an earlier release from the Negros Occidental provincial government, the scholarship is aimed at “poor but deserving young Negrense men.”
Marañon said they are anticipating another 380 scholarship slots to open up in the future./WDJ
