The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is urged to intensify police visibility and crime prevention measures following the recent holdup incident involving a female doctor in Barangay 19.

Councilor Em Ang, chairperson of the city council committee on health and sanitation, said public safety is a primary responsibility of the local government, and the peace and security of every Bacolodnon, including professionals rendering essential services, must be upheld at all times.

She said the city council received reports of a recent holdup incident in Barangay 19 on May 28, where a medical doctor was robbed, causing fear and distress not only to the victim but also to residents and health workers in the area.

The official added that doctors and other frontline medical personnel provide critical services to the community, and any threat to their safety directly affects public health and access to medical care.

Ang noted that the BCPO has the mandate to prevent crimes, conduct prompt investigations, and ensure the safety of all citizens.

“Increased police visibility, strategic checkpoints and intelligence-driven operations have proven effective in deterring criminal activity and giving the public a sense of security,” Ang said./MAP, WDJ
