Alaska mauls Magnolia in PBA Commissioner’s Cup

Alaska Aces gave debuting Magnolia Hotshots a rude welcome in the 2019 Honda PBA Commissioner’s Cup by hacking out a 103-80 victory last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Robert Daniels led the way with 23 points, including 4-of-4 three-point shooting, while Joseph Evans Casio and Jeron Teng added 17 and 14 markers, respectively, for the Aces, which moved up to 3-2.
The Aces surged to an 11-6 start on early hits from Casio and Chris Banchero. The Hotshots rallied to within three but the Aces increased the edge to 23-15 with baskets from Daniels and Vic Manuel.
The Hotshots came to as close as 24-27 in the second period but the Aces created distance anew with shots from Casio, Banchero and Carl Bryan Cruz for a 50-38 halftime edge.
The Aces continued its torrid shooting in the second half with outside hits from Daniels, Teng and Simon Enciso for its largest lead at 94-66 on back-to-back hits from Casio and Cruz.
Meanwhile, Ian Sangalang finished with 17 points and nine rebounds, Andy Mark Barroca added 15 markers, while John Fields Jr. struggled with just 12 markers and six boards for the Hotshots (0-1)./ASC, WDJ
