October 19 remains a special non-working holiday

By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga

Bacolod City Legal Officer, Atty. Joselito Bayatan, yesterday affirmed October 19 will still be observed as a special non-working holiday in the city.

During a recent press conference, Bayatan cited RA 7724, signed in 1994 by then-President Fidel V. Ramos, which marked October 19 as the city’s Charter Day.

“October 19 of every year is declared as a special non-working holiday in the City of Bacolod,” he stated.

The city official noted, HB 7044, which establishes June 18 as Bacolod City’s Charter Day, is still awaiting President Rodrigo Duterte’s signature./DGB, WDJ
