The Iloilo City Population Office (CPO) will hold a mass wedding on June 19, where 62 couples are expected to tie the knot.

Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III will officiate the ceremony at the Ker & Co. building, located next to City Hall, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

“The primary objective of this event is to legalize and strengthen the union of unmarried couples in Iloilo City,” said CPO Officer II Rachelle Lapascua.

“These couples, who are living together and have children, already find it hard to have their children enrolled [in] school because they have no marriage certificate,” CPO Officer II Florence Galanto added. “Some [also] find it hard to have their children baptized.”

The wedding is free of charge, with the city government providing rings./WDJ
