Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III assured safety for residents of the Jaro district as they celebrate the annual Jaro Fiesta today, February 2, which is done in honor of Nuestra Señora dela Candelaria.

“We’ll do our best to make this event festive at the same time safe and secured,” he said. “I assure the public of increased police visibility as we expect many people to celebrate.”

“We must also maintain cleanliness and orderliness inside and outside the plaza,” the mayor added.

Thousands are expected to gather to view the statue of Our Lady of Candles.

Among other events include the Agro-Industrial and Charity Fair, the Jaro Fiesta Queen coronation night, among others./WDJ
