According to Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) officer-in-charge Dondon Parandas, the establishment of local 911 emergency operations is currently underway, as 911 calls are still dispatched through either Manila or Cebu.
He noted, response time is often negatively impacted because of the necessity to relay information between sites. The CDRRMO chief added, local resident can use the phone number 432-3871 to 73 for emergency situations.
“We want to become self-reliant and a frontline in the DRRM delivery of services,” Parandas said.
He added, since acquiring two ambulance units, response time within the city has improved, reporting between 200 and 400 calls received by the emergency hotline.
Parandas indicated common calls were made regarding sudden illness, vehicular accidents, fires, among other events./DGB, WDJ
