Fire hydrants suggested, but rejected on fears of thievery

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) will hold fire drills in densely populated areas, specifically squatter areas, following two recent fires in Barangays Banago and Singcang-Airport.
In a radio interview yesterday, BFP-Bacolod chief, Fire Chief Inspector Publio Ploteña, said cautionary actions need to be taught.
Ploteña had earlier suggested putting fire hydrants in such locations, however, officials revoked the idea out of fears locals will steal necessary instrument.
The city fire chief recently concluded inspections at local call centers and recently suggested similar actions be taken at shopping malls./JJA, WDJ
