The Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) officially launched the SAFE NIR DIAL 911 Program in this province, marking another milestone in the region’s effort to provide faster, more responsive and community-centered police services.

This aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s order to the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police to implement an Integrated and localized Unified Emergency System, prioritizing a five-minute-or-less response time for all emergency calls.

Held at the Talisay City Public Plaza, Talisay City, PRO-NIR Acting Regional Director Brigadier General Romano Cardiño and Police Colonel Dennis Wenceslao, provincial director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, led the launching of the program, which they described as “PRO-NIR’s continuing commitment to making police services more accessible and responsive to every community in Negros Occidental.”

SAFE NIR DIAL 911 serves as an integrated emergency response mechanism designed to ensure that calls for police assistance are promptly received, efficiently coordinated, and immediately acted upon.

Cardiño emphasized that the program is not merely a hotline or communication platform but a strong symbol of the agency’s commitment to sustained peace and security in the region.

“Through SAFE NIR Dial 911, we declare that no call for help should go unanswered and that no citizen should ever feel alone in times of crisis,” he said, calling PRO-NIR personnel to ensure swift and compassionate action, and continue dedication to public service.

“We are not simply establishing a system — we are building trust. We are not merely introducing technology — we are creating stronger protection between the police and communities we serve. Together, let us build a region where safety is not just promised, but experienced,” Cardiño added.

Additionally, as the flagship initiative of PRO-NIR chief Cardiño, the program reinforces the Philippine National Police’s focused agenda by enhancing police operations, promoting integrity and accountability, improving resource management, and strengthening collaboration with local government units and community stakeholders.

Through this initiative, the agency aims to improve emergency response time and strengthen public confidence in law enforcement by implementing reliable, citizen-focused policing. (PIA Negros Occidental)
