The number of dengue cases in Bacolod City from January 1 to June 13 saw a sharp decline by 52.9 percent.

The City Health Office (CHO) recorded 189 dengue cases, lower than the 401 cases logged in the same period in 2025.

Bacolod has reported no fatalities due to dengue this year, compared to two deaths recorded last year.

Dr. Grace Tan, CHO’s Environment Sanitation Division head, said among 61 villages, Barangays Mansilingan and Singcang-Airport have the most number of dengue cases, with 23 cases each.

They were followed by Barangay Banago with 16 cases, Tangub with 14, Alijis with 13, Estefania with 11, and Handumanan with nine cases.

Tan said that the CHO has been conducting spraying and fogging operations in various barangays to prevent a rise in dengue infections.

She noted that the most common mosquito breeding sites are uncovered water containers.

The CHO has also intensified its advocacy and information campaigns through bench talks, recoridas and quad-media initiatives.

Tan urged the public to practice the 5S dengue prevention strategy: search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, self-protection measures, seek early treatment, say yes to fogging or spraying when necessary, and stay hydrated./MAP, WDJ
