A 22-year-old man identified as alias “Ed” died following a mauling incident at Barangay Macasilao in Negros Occidental’s Calatrava town late Saturday night, May 2.
Calatrava police said the incident stemmed from a drinking session between the victim and the 19-year-old suspect, alias “Boy.”
The two were reportedly on their way home around 10:00 p.m. when a heated argument escalated into a fistfight in Sitio Agtatahor II.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly used a wooden stick embedded with nails to repeatedly strike the victim on the head, causing multiple injuries.
“Ed” was rushed to Calatrava Municipal Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack but was later arrested and taken into police custody.
Charges are being prepared against him.
Stabbed
In a separate incident, a 43-year-old woman identified as alias “Emy” was stabbed by her live-in partner at Purok 6 in Hinoba-an town’s Barangay Culipapa on Sunday afternoon, May 3.
Police said the suspect, alias “Don-don,” a 46-year-old fisherman, confronted the victim while she was preparing a meal at around 4:40 p.m.
The confrontation reportedly stemmed from a prior chat conversation.
Investigators said the suspect suddenly drew a bolo and stabbed the victim on the left side of her abdomen before fleeing the scene.
The victim was initially brought for treatment and later transferred to a hospital in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental for further medical care.
A manhunt operation is ongoing as authorities continue to track down the suspect./CJ, WDJ
