A man who had previously been released from prison was shot dead at Purok Sigay in Bacolod City’s Barangay Singcang Airport on Sunday night, May 3.

Ex-convict alias “Roberto,” 56 years old, temporarily residing in the village, was sitting in a hammock and casually spending time with companions when an unidentified suspect suddenly approached and shot him at close range, police said.

Based on the account of his live-in partner, she only heard a single gunshot before realizing her partner had been hit.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, which caused his immediate death.

After the attack, the suspect fled toward an unknown direction.

She described the victim as kind and having no known enemies in their community.
