A 27-year-old woman and her three-year-old child were killed after armed suspects opened fire inside their home at Barangay Nabulao in Negros Occidental’s Sipalay City on Wednesday night, April 22, leaving three others injured.

The fatalities were identified as 27-year-old Jonabe Gernaldo and a three-year-old minor.

Injured in the incident were 62-year-old Benigna Bargaso, 46-year-old Remy Quinto, and another minor aged nine.

According to an initial report by the Sipalay police, two unidentified suspects riding a motorcycle entered the victims’ home at 7:30 p.m. and shot those inside.

Quinto, who had just arrived at the residence, was also shot by the suspects.

The assailants immediately fled the scene on their motorcycle after carrying out the attack.

Police have launched a hot pursuit operation to track down and arrest the suspects, while a deeper investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the crime./CJ, WDJ
