The Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) is mourning the untimely death of Police Master Sergeant Romulo Galvez Jr., a police officer remembered for his dedication, integrity and commitment to public service.
PRO-NIR Regional Director Police Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay personally visited the wake of Galvez to offer his condolences to the bereaved family.
During the visit, Ibay expressed solidarity with the family, sharing in their grief and assuring them of the organization’s full support during this difficult time.
The regional director emphasized that the Philippine National Police stands as one family and remains committed to providing continuous assistance to the loved ones of fallen personnel.
He also paid tribute to Galvez’s service, noting that his courage and dedication will continue to inspire fellow officers.
Galvez, a member of the Station Drug Enforcement Team, was shot in the right thigh by the 32-year-old suspect who reportedly drew a .45 caliber firearm during a drug buy-bust operation on April 9.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on April 10.
Authorities said financial assistance and institutional support have already been extended to the family, with efforts underway to facilitate all due benefits.
PRO-NIR honored Galvez’s life and service, recognizing his contribution to the police force and reaffirming its commitment to uphold the values he exemplified in the line of duty./CJ, WDJ
