The Land Transportation Office in the Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) has formally initiated the process to revoke the driver’s license of a motorist involved in a viral road rage incident in Negros Occidental’s Murcia town.

In a statement, LTO-NIR confirmed that a resolution recommending license revocation was served on the respondent at its office in Bacolod City’s Barangay Mansilingan yesterday.

The individual’s identity has been withheld pending further proceedings.

The case stemmed from an altercation along the national highway in Murcia’s Barangay Salvacion, where the motorcycle rider was seen on video repeatedly punching a 67-year-old driver.

Initial findings revealed that the suspect allegedly blocked the victim’s vehicle before carrying out the physical assault, resulting in visible injuries.

The agency earlier issued a show-cause order, requiring the respondent to explain his actions.

Following evaluation, the LTO-NIR’s Investigation and Intelligence Unit recommended the revocation of the driver’s license, citing grave misconduct and unsafe behavior on public roads.

Authorities said the resolution was properly received and explained to the respondent, with no untoward incident reported during the proceedings.

LTO-NIR emphasized that the move reflects its strict enforcement against violent and reckless motorists, warning that aggressive behavior on the road will be met with corresponding administrative penalties.

The agency also renewed its call for drivers to practice discipline, respect and restraint to ensure the safety of all road users across NIR./CJ, WDJ
