A 37-year-old man was found dead in a sugarcane field in Negros Occidental’s Sagay City late Wednesday night, March 18.
Sagay police said the victim, a store helper and resident of the area, was discovered by his cousin at 10:55 p.m. in Sitio Yungho, Barangay Poblacion 1.
The unidentified man was found lying lifeless in a sugarcane field beside the road, with blood observed coming from his mouth.
He was rushed to the Alfredo Marañon Sr. District Memorial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Further police inquiry with the victim’s mother disclosed that he had been suffering from tuberculosis but had reportedly refused to undergo medical check-ups and treatment.
Authorities noted that there were no signs of foul play or struggle found on the victim’s body./CJ, WDJ
