A domestic dispute reportedly fueled by jealousy turned violent when a 37-year-old woman was stabbed by her American husband at Barangay 5 in Negros Occidental’s Sipalay City early Sunday morning, March 1.
Carl Lassus, 47 years old, an American national from North Philadelphia, was taken into police custody.
Initial investigations indicate that Lassus arrived in their apartment intoxicated and angry around 1:30 a.m. before allegedly attacking his wife, Gina Lassus, with a knife.
Gina sustained multiple stab wounds to her stomach and face.
She was immediately brought to the Sipalay City infirmary for treatment.
Authorities report that her condition is stable, but she may be transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City for further medical care.
A neighbor reported the incident to authorities about an hour later after hearing the victim cry for help.
The same neighbor noted that the couple had a misunderstanding just days prior to the stabbing.
Police are investigating jealousy as a possible motive for the attack./CJ, WDJ
