A motorcycle rider died after being allegedly run over by a 14-wheeler truck at Barangay Calumangan in Negros Occidental’s Bago City past 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19.

According to a tricycle driver, who requested to be identified as Rudymar, he had pulled over to let a passenger alight in Purok San Jose when he suddenly heard a loud crash at the rear of his tricycle.

He immediately saw the victim stumble and fall toward the inner lane of the road.

As the man reached the middle of the street, Rudymar witnessed him being struck by a truck following behind.

Initial reports indicate that the truck, loaded with sugarcane, had originated from Ilog, and was en route to Silay City’s Barangay Hawaiian.

Another eyewitness, identified as Adela, said the victim had attempted to overtake the tricycle at the time of the accident.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Authorities confirmed that the Bago police have taken custody of both the truck and tricycle drivers, along with the three vehicles involved, for appropriate legal disposition./CJ, WDJ
