The Cadiz City government has earmarked around P15 million for the staging of the 52nd Dinagsa Festival, a 10-day celebration highlighting the city’s culture, faith and history in honor of its patron saint, the Señor Santo Niño.
Mayor Salvador “Bading” Escalante, Jr. said the budget will cover festival activities, security operations and performances, as the city anticipates a surge of visitors during the festivities.
To ensure public safety, more than 300 security personnel from the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army and Philippine Coast Guard, along with force multipliers, have been deployed in key areas throughout the celebration.
Escalante emphasized that peace and order remain a top priority, particularly during major events expected to draw large crowds.
This year’s Dinagsa Festival will feature a mix of local and national performers, with popular bands Kamikazee and Hale slated to headline the opening days, adding to the festive atmosphere and tourism draw.
However, Escalante noted a shift in the festival’s program, as sports activities have been removed from this year’s lineup.
He explained that all sporting events will instead be held during the city’s Sports Month celebration in April, allowing the Dinagsa Festival to concentrate on cultural, religious and historical presentations.
