PSA-NIR cites strong ties with LGUs in enhanced civil registration

The Philippine Statistics Authority-Negros Island Region (PSA-NIR) yesterday underscored its strong partnership with local government units (LGUs) in delivering civil registration programs, activities and services as six local civil registry offices (LCROs) in the region received awards during the 4th National Convention on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) held in Pampanga.

“These awards are a testament to what meaningful collaborations between the PSA and the LCROs can do as we strive to get every Juan and Juana in the picture through efficient and inclusive civil registration,” PSA-NIR Interim Director John Campomanes said in a news release yesterday.

Sibulan, Negros Oriental was awarded Most Innovative LCRO in the region with the innovation titled “Embracing Digitalization: Enhancing Civil Registry Services in Sibulan, Negros Oriental through Excel Automation.”

Five LCROs from NIR were in the Top 10 Outstanding LCROs for 2024, based on the number of civil registry documents (CRDs) registered at LCROs and submitted to the Civil Registration System.

Canlaon City in Negros Oriental placed first while Siquijor, Siquijor was seventh in the medium category (1,000 to 1,999 CRDs). Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental topped the large category (2,000 to 3,999 CRDs).

In the extra-large category (4,000 to 9,999 CRDs), Bayawan City, Negros Oriental was in third place while Sagay City, Negros Occidental ranked ninth.

For the second time, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental was the top performer in the super extra-large category for submissions of 10,000 or more CRDs.

Three LCROs in Negros Oriental, including Santa Catalina, Canlaon City and Bayawan City, as well as Siquijor, Siquijor were also honored with the prestigious 2024 Circle of Excellence Award, a distinction given to offices that have consistently ranked among the 10 Outstanding LCROs for five consecutive years.

The outstanding LCRO award aims to promote efficiency and innovation in LCROs; acknowledge their support for CRVS programs; appreciate vital statistics data; foster cooperation; and align incentives with performance to ensure timely and accurate civil registration services. (PNA)
