Authorities have identified a key person of interest in the killing of Christian Bawang, whose body was discovered in a grassy area of Purok Yap in Bacolod City’s Barangay Alangilan on Monday, June 9.
Police Station 5 commander Major Marc Joeil Reclamado said information from the victim’s family and acquaintances helped focus the investigation on a potential suspect.
They are still probing whether Bawang had any links to illegal drug activities.
Investigators are currently reviewing footage from a closed-circuit television camera to gather additional clues.
Police said the victim was last seen in Barangay Estefania.
Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered five sachets of suspected shabu from his pockets.
Bawang was found with his hands and feet bound with duct tape, his mouth gagged, and a cardboard sign placed nearby bearing the message: “Winston Bawang, ikaw ang dason pusher” — referring to the victim’s father, Winston Bawang.
An autopsy report confirmed that Bawang died from two gunshot wounds to the head.
The police continue to pursue leads in hopes of swiftly resolving the case and delivering justice./JB, WDJ
