A radioman’s residence was riddled with bullets late Sunday night, April 20, in what the victim believes is retaliation for his investigative reporting on political graft and corruption.

Rey Siason, anchorman of dyKB RPN-Bacolod, narrowly escaped injury when at least 16 rounds of .45-caliber ammunition were fired into his home in a subdivision in Negros Occidental’s Talisay City around 11:00 p.m., police said.

Sixteen empty .45-caliber shells were recovered at the crime scene.

The bullets damaged the windshield of a parked motorcycle, a vehicle and the gate.

Siason and his companions at home were unharmed during the incident, police said.

The Talisay City police are reviewing closed-circuit television footage and witness statements to trace the suspects.

It was learned that in September 2019, a similar incident happened to Siason, authorities said.

The radio anchorman believes that the same person is behind it.

Authorities have identified a person of interest in the 2019 shooting, but await further evidence before filing charges.

Meanwhile, Siason recounted hearing a sudden barrage of gunfire while resting in his bedroom.

Witnesses near a billiard hall close to his home reported seeing two unidentified individuals on a black sniper motorcycle fleeing the scene.

Siason, who has focused on exposing alleged corruption among local politicians, linked the attack to his profession.

While he has faced threatening social media posts, he clarified no direct warnings preceded this attack./JB, WDJ
