A weeklong anti-drug campaign in Western Visayas has led to the confiscation of 1,165 grams of suspected shabu valued at P7.9 million and the arrest of 60 drug suspects.
The operations, conducted from February 1 to 7, comprised 46 drug busts, the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) said.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office recorded the largest haul, seizing illegal drugs worth P2 million.
It was followed by the Iloilo City Police Office with P1.9 million, and the Capiz Police Provincial Office with P1.7 million.
In terms of arrests, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office led with 23 individuals apprehended, accounting for 33.33 percent of the total arrests, followed by the Bacolod City Police Office with 13.
The arrested suspects now face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This successful operation underscores the resolve of PRO-6 to rid Western Visayas of illegal drugs while fostering stronger collaboration with community stakeholders to ensure sustained progress in the fight against narcotics.
Meanwhile, PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky commended the operatives for their dedication and achievements.
“We applaud the relentless efforts of all personnel involved in these operations. Let us continue to sustain the strong momentum of our campaign against illegal drugs,” he said in a statement.
Wanky further emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with communities, local government units, other law enforcement agencies, and stakeholders to combat the drug menace effectively./ML, WDJ
