More than 300 students of the Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) have tested negative for COVID-19 after undergoing swab tests.
This comes after an increase in the number of students who have fallen ill was observed.
In a radio interview, NOHS Medical Officer III, Shila Blancia, said most students who have fallen ill have experienced flu-like symptoms.
Blancia said the spread of the illness was due to some students attending classes despite having a fever and not receiving proper medication.
She added that sick students were immediately brought to the clinic for a medical check-up and to receive treatment.
Students who have a cough are required to wear face masks while inside the classroom.
Those who are not feeling well are immediately sent home to avoid the illness from further spreading.
The school’s management mandated the wearing of face masks inside the school premises.
Blancia said the school’s medicine and face mask supplies are running out, adding that their office is open to accept donations./DGB, WDJ
