Comelec releases list of candidates in NegOcc

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released a list of candidates in Negros Occidental, with the fifth district of the province recording the most number of aspirants for board members with a total of eight running for the post.

The candidates include Anton Occeño (Independent), Pete Bolaño (Pederalismo Ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan), Board Boyet Espinosa (Lakas-CMD), Rita Gastuskao ( re-electionist of UNegA), Hernan Julian Gatuslao (NPC), and Patrick “PM” Montilla (Independent).

The provincial candidates who are unopposed for board members are Rommel Debulgado and Aracelio Somosa (first district), Pal Guanzon and Jongben Mirhan (second district), and Macho Alonso and Jeffrey Tubola (sixth district).

For board members in the fourth district, aspirants are Jose Benito Alonso (incumbent) and Cleo Gaudite while in the third district, independent candidate Tukoy Occida challenges incumbents Andrew Montelibano and Manuel Frederick Ko.

For congressman, unopposed are Gerardo Valmayor (first district), Alfredo “Thirdy” Marañon (second district), Juliet Marie Ferrer (fourth district), and Mercedes Alvarez (sixth district).
Incumbent Third District Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez, meanwhile, is being challenged by Toto Bernard Ferraris.

Fifth District Rep. Marilou Arroyo has two opponents namely, Macoy Javelosa and former board member Dino Yulo.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, on the other hand, is being challenged by former Bacolod City administrator Atty. John Orola and Ma. Socorro Sibulan, while Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer is being opposed by Jonry Gargarita.
