The P150-million two-storey Saravia Commercial Center Mall, popularly known as “SM” in Negros Occidental’s E.B. Magalona town, finally opened its doors to the public on October 8.
E.B. Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon said it has more than 100 commercial spaces, which are already fully occupied.
The second floor is earmarked for offices of various national government agencies and a function area for big events, he said.
“With plenty interested to put up their businesses in the facility, we are screening all applicants to ensure that they are not competing against each other,” the mayor said.
He said he wants “a balance of different kinds of businesses to occupy it.”
Food chain stores and other food establishments are also looking for spaces to operate in the town, he said.
Meanwhile, Malacon, said he aims to complete all the infrastructure projects during his last term.
He pointed out that he will also seek the help of the provincial government.
“E.B. Magalona is a small town with a small Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA). We can’t afford it if we rely solely on our local funds,” he added./DGB, WDJ
