The principal of the Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) passed away last Wednesday afternoon after battling complications brought by COVID-19.
Mario Solinap Amaca passed away at the Riverside Medical Center. He was 59 years old.
According to information provided to local media, Amaca was infected with COVID-19 in September and was initially confined at the Cadiz District Hospital.
However, his condition had reportedly worsened and he was later transferred to the Riverside Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Amaca later recovered from COVID-19 and was brought to a regular room, however, he continued to experience difficulty in breathing.
He was returned to the ICU where he passed away around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Amaca is regarded as a “great man, a good leader, a friend, and father of NOHS,” according to the official Facebook page of NOHS./DGB, WDJ
