The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Western Visayas has condemned the shooting of their agent last Tuesday, October 5, in Bacolod City’s Barangay Cabug.
In a statement released by the law enforcement agency, they said they are not discounting the possibility that the shooting of Intelligence Officer 1 Jayson Yayola was job-related, especially as they have intensified their campaign against illegal drugs in Bacolod City and other parts of Negros Occidental.
PDEA-6 also stated they are currently coordinating with the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) over their ongoing investigation.
Their whole regional office has also been urged to remain strong and focused on their responsibilities as frontliners in the campaign to rid communities from illegal drugs, and for the investigation to unmask the culprits behind the attack on one of their men.
Earlier on Tuesday evening, Yayola was riding his motorcycle when he was shot by two individuals in a grey-coloured vehicle along Purok Kabugwason in Barangay Cabug.
Yayola sustained three gunshot wounds on his body, although he is in a stable condition./DGB, WDJ
