An agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was wounded after he was shot multiple times at Purok Kabugwason in Bacolod City’s Barangay Cabug on Tuesday night.

Police Station 9 commander, Major Ritchie Gohee, identified the victim as Intelligence Officer 1 Jason Yayola, a resident of Barangay Canjusa in the town of Pulupandan.

Based on eye witness accounts, two individuals inside a grey-colored vehicle were tailing Yayola in his motorcycle.

Upon reaching the barangay’s Welcome Arc, he was shot by occupants of the vehicle, which quickly sped away towards the direction of Barangay Alijis after the incident.

Yayola was immediately rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital after sustaining three gunshot wounds on his body.

He is now reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators, meanwhile, recovered an empty .38 caliber cartridge at the crime scene.

Police also recovered Yayola’s PDEA badge along with his Jericho .45 caliber pistol, believed to be the victim’s service firearm.

Witnesses also described one of the gunmen as around 5’3″ to 5’4″ tall and was wearing a face mask and a black jacket.

Yayola was also mistakenly identified as a PDEA asset at first, however, Gohee later confirmed that the victim was an organic member of the law enforcement group.

Police are currently investigating the incident, and believe the attempt on the agent’s life may be connected to his job./DGB, WDJ
