The chiefs of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional and provincial offices visited San Carlos City in Negros Occidental on Monday morning, August 23.
PDEA-6 acting regional director Alex Tablate and PDEA-Negros Occidental provincial officer Nicholas Gomez met with Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo and the San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council members and secretariat, Legal Asst. II Ana Liza Macaraya.
Tablate said he is very thankful for the support of the local government especially the involvement of the inter-faith based group in implementing the community-based rehabilitation program of the city called Kinabuhi Angay Ampingan Bag-uhon Alang sa Ginoo.
He also added that PDEA is working closely with the Philippine National Police, the local government unit and the barangay which have the important roles in knowing their locals in terms of illegal drug activity and information sharing to the agency.
Gomez, on the other hand, reiterated that barangays should comply with the requirements in drug-clearing operations while at the same time strengthening its drug-clearing program and the community-based drug rehabilitation especially that the city’s application for a drug-cleared barangay is underway.
The said visit was in line with the intensified Barangay Drug-Clearing Operations program of the national government./WDJ
