Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is urging the province’s residents to remain calm after the country’s first confirmed case of the Lambda variant of COVID-19 was recorded in the province’s Valladolid town.

In a phone patch interview, Lacson said Negrenses have nothing to worry as to whatever variants may enter the province as long as they remain vigilant and follow the minimum health protocols.
The governor said we can only do so much, but for now they are more concerned over the prevalence of the Delta variant and they are doing their best to keep the province’s borders safe although Negros Occidental still remains Delta variant-free.
“If it’s there, it’s there, let’s just continue to be careful,” Lacson said.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City recorded two more cases of the Delta variant involving residents of Barangay Mansilingan on Monday, bringing to four the total number of Delta variant cases in the city.
The city government added that the four cases have already recovered.
The Delta variant is considered more transmissible and has contributed to increasing cases nationwide, according to the Department of Health./DGB, WDJ
