Dingle National High School standouts Ayesha Marie Pescador and Maxene de la Torre are headed to Manila after being recruited by University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Enderun College, respectively.

Dingle NHS head coach Prandy John Wong told Watchmen Daily Journal that Pescador and De La Torre were recruited by UST and Enderun coaches Haydee Ong and Joan Ford Grajales.

“Ayesha is a very smart player. She has a very high basketball IQ. As a point guard, she is very unselfish and a true court general so I am not surprised na nagustuhan siya ng UST coaches,” Wong said.

“Maxene is a sharp shooter. During her time at Dingle, she was a catch-and-shoot type of player, which I liked about her,” he added. “Malakas din ang loob niya and I believe she is a perfect fit sa Enderun.”

Pescador and De La Torre both played key roles in Dingle NHS secondary girls basketball team’s success where they ruled the CDSA IV Meet and Integrated Meet and also represented Iloilo twice in the WVRAA Meet.

The 5-foot-2 Pescador and 5-foot-5 De La Torre were the second and third Dingle players to be recruited to Manila after Glydelle Mae Gultiano committed to UST Junior Tigresses last year.

“I know that it was their dream to be able to spread their wings in Manila so I am happy and at the same time proud of them,” Wong said. “I am excited to see them improve their game further under coaches Haydee and Ford.”/ASC, WDJ
