San Carlos City in Negros Occidental through the San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (SCCADAC) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 conducted a barangay drug clearing assessment and validation in the city’s Barangay Prosperidad yesterday.
At least 19 surrenderers who graduated from the community-based rehab called Kinabuhi Ampingan, Bag-uhon Alang sa Ginoo (KAABAG) were assessed and advised about the sanctions and consequences if they will go back to their wrongdoings.
PDEA Intel Officer Alyssa Zaragoza urged KAABAG beneficiaries to encourage those remaining surrenderers who weren’t able to finish the program to continue in order to make their area a drug-clear barangay.
The said activity was followed by a validation where PDEA checked the documents presented. Members of the SCCADAC planned to conduct another batch for KAABAG to give chance to those surrenderers in Barangay Prosperidad who were not able to finish the program.
Danille Marie Osorio, Local Government Operations Officer VI of the Department of the Interior & Local Government, urged barangay officials to continue to be active in reporting to the city and PDEA about the illegal activities happening in their respective areas, especially drug-related issues.
Present during the activity were SP Member Lorna Hinolan with members of the SCCADAC, City Health Office Representative Juan Carlos Solidarios, City Social Welfare & Development Officer Cynthia Mirande, Prosperidad Punong Barangay Lucio Tangayan, Barangay Officials, Philippine National Police – San Carlos and members of the PDEA./WDJ
