The Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City, Negros Occidental achieved a score of 100 percent for this year’s external quality assessment on COVID-19 detection via RT-PCR tests.

The assessment was made recently by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

Based on a copy of the result released to local media, the quality assurance test was completed in May of this year.

Among the test procedures that were performed were Nucleic Acid Extraction, PCR Mastermix Preparation, Real Time RT-PCR, Interpretation of RT-PCR results, and RT-PCR results reporting.

The TLJPH Molecular Laboratory first came in to operation for the provincial government of Negros Occidental last year and was one of the first laboratories to be established in Western Visayas.

Since then the provincial government established another molecular laboratory at the Valladolid District Hospital./DGB, WDJ
