The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has reminded the province’s residents that cockfighting activities are still prohibited in the province.
NOCPPO spokesperson Lt. Abegael Donasco said cockfighting event is a form of mass gathering and it is the reason why holding such event is prohibited.
Donasco pointed out that as long as Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson will not issue any approval for holding such events, NOCPPO will continue their operations against cockfighting.
NOCPPO director Colonel Romy Palgue has also issued orders to police chiefs in the province to regularly monitor their areas and immediately conduct operations against cockfighting events.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, meanwhile, said holding online cockfights is not prohibited under the modified general community quarantine rules, but organizers of such events must coordinate with the local authorities first.
Diaz said live viewers should not be present, although there should be designated areas for viewing and proper health protocols should be observed./DGB, WDJ
