A native of Barangay Bangkal in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu facing rape charges was arrested around 4:30 p.m. on January 7 in Barangay Puey, Sagay City, Negros Occidental

The suspect, 47-year old Hilton Cañete, was caught on the strength of an arrest warrant for rape through sexual assault and attempted rape charges issued by Judge Ferdinand Collantes of the Regional Trial Court – Branch 68.

Cañete was detained at the Sagay City Police Station.

The court recommended P120,000 bail bond for each case for his temporary liberty./WDJ
