Following the death of La Carlota City Mayor Luis Jalandoni III, Vice Mayor Rex Jalandoon and City Councilor David Baga were yesterday sworn in as mayor and vice mayor, respectively.
Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, who is currently serving as acting governor, officiated the ceremony and explained it is the governor’s responsibility to fill the vacancy on the city council following recommendation by the party.
He said there will be consultation with the family and party to determine a candidate.
Jalandoni died last week from liver cancer. His body was cremated yesterday./DGB, WDJ
