The Negros Occidental Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) announced they will be holding a Governor’s Permit Holders Forum/Dialogue for quarry applicants in the first week of February in Bacolod City in order for permit holders to raise concerns.
According to PEMO head, Atty. Danilo Amisola, “The province is taking a bold step in promulgating significant changes to promote a more responsive and organized system in sand and gravel operations for the benefit of all stakeholders.”
In response to requests for additional days to process requirements for sand and gravel operations applications, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier signed an executive order providing an extension of 90 days to process permits, which is in additional to the existing 270-day period.
Meanwhile, the event will also serve as a venue for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Environmental Management Bureau, and Mines and Geosciences Bureau to inform permit holders on new policy directions./WDJ
