Iloilo City to provide assistance for affected localities

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas recently directed City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Donna Magno to coordinate with certain towns that would be eligible to receive assistance from the city.
“We will be meeting with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council para mabal-an kon sino hatagan kag kon pila (We will be meeting with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to discuss who to assist and by how much),” the mayor explained.
He said the procedure of distributing aid will go through a specific process.
“The council will assess kag akon gid man ang findings sang disaster council (The council and myself will assess the findings by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council),” Treñas said. “That will be submitted to the City Council for approval.”
The mayor said he is currently thinking of offering between P50,000 and P100,000 for each affected locality.
According to recent data from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, a total 19 fatalities have been recorded across Panay as a result of Typhoon Ursula. They note 13 deaths were reported in Iloilo, with four recorded in Capiz and two in Aklan.
Meanwhile, as of last Friday, a National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council report showed there are currently a total of 28 casualties across the entire Visayas region./WDJ
