The Philippine Army is now investigating the six 79th Infantry Battalion (79IB) soldiers who reportedly caused a disturbance inside a bar in Cadiz City last week. In a radio interview with Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, Brigadier General Benedict Arevalo, said the six will receive penalties if the allegations against them are proven true.
79IB civil military operations officer, Captain Rowell Dairocas, meanwhile, denied claims the soldiers threatened or choked an individual inside the bar; however, he did confirm the six were laughing loudly, which may have been a disturbance to other customers.
Meanwhile, the soldiers violated an existing order prohibiting them from drinking in public places.
As part of the investigation, the involved soldiers have been disarmed and were barred from leaving camp while the investigation is ongoing.
The six have since been released after the complainants decided not to press charges./DGB, WDJ
