Ceres-Negros FC came from behind, then survived a late rally, to score a 4-3 win over Stallion Laguna FC at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna, earning a spot in the 2019 Copa Paulino Alcántara finals.
Stallion midfielder Edris Najm opened scoring early with a goal in the ninth minute. Striker Abou Mouhamed Sy then doubled Stallion’s lead in the 15th minute. However, three minutes later, midfielder Stephan Schröck pulled one back for Ceres and, in the 29th minute, fellow midfielder Mike Ott found the equalizer.
The two sides went into halftime tied 2-2.
Into the second half, Schröck and Ott both scored braces with goals in the 69th and 77th minutes, putting the Bacolod City-side up 4-2.
By the 85th minute, Stallion midfielder Jesus Melliza scored and made it a one-goal match; however, the Biñan City-based club was unable to find an equalizer and were eliminated from the tournament.
