Over 50 Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc. personnel took part in Brigada Eskwela, which gathers students, parents, teachers, among others to conduct cleaning, painting, and minor repair work to local schools, at Antonio L. Jayme Elementary School in Bacolod City’s Barangay Mansilingan.
Volunteers cleaned and painted sections of the school, including the main gate, entrance pathway, and façade.
“Coca-Cola has been part of Bacolod for more than 70 years and we have always been invested in helping take care of the community that we’ve always called home,” said Coca-Cola Bacolod plant manager Bernard Engada. “With volunteerism as a fundamental part of our culture in Coca-Cola, we actively involve ourselves with efforts such as Brigada Eskwela.”
Towards the end of last month, the Department of Education-Division of Bacolod City (DepEd-Bacolod) kicked off this year’s Brigada Eskwela with a motorcade around the city.
According to a DepEd memorandum signed by DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones earlier this year, all members of the local public school system, from regional directors and schools division superintendents to DepEd staff and education stakeholders, are expected to participate in the event./WDJ
