The remains of a seven-year-old girl were found inside a sack late Sunday night at Purok Zone-1 Villamiranda in Victorias City’s Barangay 6A.
Police have requested not to identify the victim, but confirmed she was a resident of the said area.
Deputy Victorias City police commander, Police Captain Joy Ellaga, said the victim’s remains were found inside a sack that was placed among garbage in a vacant lot.
Police and rescuers from the city’s disaster risk reduction management office immediately went on site and recovered the remains.
When cops interviewed witnesses and the victim’s family, they found she was last seen with the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Mark Besa, who ordered her to buy cigarettes at a nearby store.
Ellaga said Besa had previously surrendered to authorities on drug charges but they received information that he has since continued with the illicit activity.
She further stated, the suspect was also arrested last week after abusing his wife, who had just given birth to their child.
Initial examination of the victim’s remains found no wounds on her body and recommended an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, meanwhile, condemned the killing and demanded Besa to voluntarily surrender to either him or police./DGB, WDJ
