The Antique Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) issued a warning discouraging the public from vandalizing road signage as it may contribute to accidents.

DPWH-Antique Maintenance Division chief, Engr. Raul Armada, said there are many contractors who complain about stolen, damaged, or removed road signage.

“We already coordinated with barangay officials so that they [can] help us safeguard the road signage,” he said.

Meanwhile, following the Ceres bus accident in Barangay Fabrica, located in Hamtic, Antique, that resulted in three casualties and seven injuries, the DPWH central office instructed the local agency to come up with a master plan to prevent road accidents.

Armada noted the rumble strip installed at the site of the accident.

“The rumble strip will serve as warning to the approaching motorists to slow down,” he said./WDJ
