Philippines scores two own goals in loss to Taiwan

The Philippine women’s national football team, the Malditas, lost 4-2 to their counterparts from Taiwan, competing as Chinese Taipei, in the second round of the AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament over the weekend at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

The Philippines opened scoring with a goal from midfielder Joyce Semacio in the 13th minute. The lead later doubled in the 32nd minute after defender Patricia Tomanon scored off a rebound.

Michelle Pao pulled one back for Chinese Taipei off a penalty kick at the half.

The Philippines then scored two own goals off defenders Tomanon and Alesa Dolino, putting the Taiwanese side up 3-2.
