Second half momentum from the Cignal HD-Ateneo Blue Eagles helped put them past the Petron-Letran Knights in their recent 83-64 win in the 2019 PBA D-League at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Bryan Jayson ‘BJ’ Andrade waxed hot in the third quarter, where he drained 10 of his 13 points for the Cignal-Ateneo, turning a 36-35 halftime deficit into a commanding 63-54 advantage.
The third quarter spurt was all they needed to take the fight away from Petron-Letran as the lead swelled to as high as 82-62.
Joseph Matthew Nieto also contributed 12 points and two rebounds to Cignal-Ateneo, while Matthew Daves added 10 points and nine boards and Ange Kouame bucked foul trouble to nab 10 points and 11 rebounds.
“Our discipline wasn’t good in the first half and that’s not the right recipe to play basketball, but we sorted some things out,” said Cignal-Ateneo head coach Thomas Baldwin.
