The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters entered the 2019 Honda PBA Philippine Cup semifinals following their 91-85 win last night over NorthPort Batang Pier at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Eduardo Daquioag led the win with 15 points, while Rey Nambatac and Beau Belga added 14 and 13 markers, respectively.

Rain or Shine next faces the winner of the quarterfinal series between Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the Magnolia Hotshots.

Batang Pier started strong and took an 11-7 lead but the Painters clawed back to being one point down, 13-12, before NorthPort pulled to a 17-12 lead; however, a shot from Mark Borboran brought Rain or Shine back to within three.

The Painters opened the second quarter with triples from Nambatac, Norbert Torres, and Gabe Norwood for a 30-22 edge. Batang Pier got as cloase as 34-30 but a triple from Daquioag gave the Painters a 43-33 halftime edge.

The Painters continued to lead in the third when Batang Pier mounted a huge run to come to within 55-52 but a triple by Nambatac and free throws from Javee Mocon and Jewel Ponferrada gave the Painters a 73-62 lead.

Batang Pier tried its best to trim the deficit at the onset of the fourth quarter but three-pointers from Daquioag, Belga, and Norwood preserved the victory for the Painters./ASC, WDJ
